Prevent Child Abuse America - $10,000 - To enhance HFA In Home Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model to deal with maternal depression & effects of Intimate Partner Violence.
Yale Child Study Center, Family Support Specialist, New Haven, CT - $15,000 - 118 women and 159 children were served by The Michael Bolton Parenting Program. A significant percentage of these women suffer from abuse, neglect, abandonment and domestic as well as community violence. The Program plans to expand to include men living in the adjacent shelter who have children and histories of partner violence.
Columbus House/Sojourner’s House, New Haven, CT - $10,000 Support for Beyond Shelter Program which is part of The Middlesex Family Shelter Project which Columbus House has taken over from The Red Cross. 30% of clients in Beyond Shelter Program are victims of domestic violence. The program provides case management to families and individuals who ‘graduate’ from area shelter programs and attain their own housing. The goal of the BSP Program is to reduce recidivism by serving as a liaison between formerly homeless clients and area landlords to help clients avoid situations that have tended to cause them to become homeless in the past. The staff begins working with families when they are ready to transition back into the community and are actively helping clients find affordable and sustainable housing.
NY Family Justice Center, Brooklyn - $ 7,500 - A one-stop center of support services for domestic violence victims and their families.
Domestic Violence Services of Greater New Haven - $10,000 - To provide advocacy & support services to children, adolescent & teens living at the Safe House, as a critical enhancement to current services focusing on the mothers.
Susan B. Anthony Project - $10,000 - Support to help clients with emergency needs & legal fees and support for Rebuilding Lives Shelter & transitional living program offering domestic violence counseling, safety planning, advocacy, sexual assault services, support groups & job readiness services- provided by 17 accredited crisis counselors working w/ both populations.
NY Center for Children - $2,500 - Support services including medical and counseling for child abuse victims & children exposed to domestic violence.
Mt. Sinai Sexual Assault & Victims Intervention Program (SAVI) - $2,500 - Support for the SAVI program against Commercial Sexual Exploitation
The Center for Women & Families, Bridgeport, CT - $15,000 - Integrated Family Violence Services providing intensive clinical/case management services to families in home & at the Center. Support to increase hours for family advocate. The family advocate coordinates the Bridgeport Multidisciplinary Investigative TEAM (MDT) and works with severely traumatized children under the “Bridging Program.” The Bridging Program is in partnership with Yale Child Study Center and provides services for children who display acute trauma for longer-term intensive therapy.
Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven - $10,000 - Support for loss-mitigation efforts to clients by providing foreclosure intervention counseling services. Of the active 100 cases being handled by counselors, an increasing amount of clients are dealing with domestic violence issues All cases of domestic violence are referred to social service agencies when clients are willing to seek this assistance. Challenges counselors face when assisting distressed homeowners include: 1) length of time the loss-mitigation takes place; and 2) many clients have significantly reduced and/or limited income available to obtain an affordable modification. For the past five years, NHS has managed a rescue fund to make zero interest, deferred repayment rescue loans available to homeowners who do not have extra income to bring their mortgages current and who could conceivably become homeless.
Work Vessels for Veterans - $7,500 - Work Vessels for Vets mission is to assist as many returning service men and women in starting or re-starting their careers after their military duties have been fulfilled. To date, over 500 veterans have been helped in their transition from military to civilian life. WVFV also donates cars, vans, trucks, tractors, farm equipment tools, boats and laptops to veterans across the country as well as providing farmland to grow crops and earn a living.
Yoga Blue, Inc., Ojai, CA - $5,000 - Yoga Blue assists women suffering from substance abuse and domestic violence.
New Britain Police Department via The Innocent Justice Foundation - $2,100 Support to purchase technology which will allow the police to acquire data from Motorola, Samsung, Nokia and LG phones and allow them to find and acquire deleted evidence. This technology will speed up forensic exams in the investigation and conviction of child sexual abuse offenders and provide a faster turnaround time in rescuing children from predators as well as help in high priority, local kidnapping/homicide cases.
